To press charges against someone in the Internet Court of Law (ICL), there are two routes you can take.
First off, you may sign up to the ICL forum and make a post in the Introductions thread stating your name (online username only, refrain from sharing personal information with the ICL), the details of your case, and any useful evidence you can find to help us in the trial. After this, a judge will reply to your thread saying that he has taken your case. You are required by ICL guidelines to make every attempt possible to contact the person you are pressing charges against to make a fair trial. Failure to do so can lead to investigation by the ICL.
By that point, he will post a thread in the "Official ICL Court Cases" subforum stating the details of your case and two deadlines. By the Lawyer Selection Deadline (LSD), you must select the lawyer you would like to represent you. If you make no selection by that deadline, a random lawyer will be assigned to you, with no opportunity to switch lawyers afterwards.
The second deadline is the End of Discovery deadline. This is the deadline that we'd like you to submit most of your evidence before. Evidence found after this date can still be used in a trial, but it will stall court proceedings, as we have to verify the evidence to be true before continuing. Avoid submitting evidence after this deadline if possible.
From there, you can talk with your lawyer about what is and isn't acceptable evidence in the ICL court. Your lawyer is there to answer any questions you may have and consult you on any concerns. Keep in good contact with your lawyer, as he will be speaking for you in the courtroom.
The second option, if you don't want to join the ICL forum, is to know a lawyer in the ICL court, and to ask him to take your case directly to a judge. Be wary of this route. If you choose it, you will not be able to speak in the courtroom. You will be stuck outside the courtroom while your trial takes place.
